ok it happened like this. He ran her over with the model T ( probabaly for burning his toast) , hid her ring and number tag in the damaged cap and buried it.

Ooooh that's a good one! More likely she caught him bootlegging witha pretty young thang he was planning to marry ,ran him over, absconded with the ring and put a tag on his toe when he was DOA at the city hospital.

Are you saying he found all three buried together? Or the were in the junk box together? Where were they originally found, and were they found together? If that's the case, the hub cap made a handy cup to hold stuff. The tax tag might well be a very early license plate for the car? Something like this is what I have in mind. license_plate.jpg

The ring and the tx paid object were inside the smashed hubcap and sent in a box of miscellaneous relics. I have been searching TN for similar finds and am thinking that there might have been some kind of tax token for cars back then.

I found a Ford cap just like that last week detecting. (for Model T-- wood spoke wheel). Mine did not have a ring or a tag:)

Thanks Clovis .it wasn't actually a find by me but sent to my husband in a box of miscellaneous relics.
