I asked the same question. I was told in a friendly manner, after X amount of silver found and pre 1880 coins found, you were given a t-shirt, which by the way is silk screen at a local shop.

correct me if I'm wrong

My understanding Shadow was made in a small Shop.
by a former Tesero tec.

and too small Numbers to sell like Whites, Garrett, Etc.

I also believe the majority of Shadows sold to people who did
club Hunts. (Plenty of silver in the ground, for everyone)

They did/do have a cult following, and there is no reason to believe they are
not good detectors.
But again, so is almost everything else produced today, in the right hands.

I don't think they were magic wands.

but definitely Light enough for everyone.

due to their cult following, they probably have a Nice resale value though

To show various person's successes , by using certain machines, does not in-&-of-itself mean that "machine x is the best". I agree that, over time, if "brand x" seems to always rise-to-the-top with the best finds/most #'s, then sure. But to randomly show singular shots of finds, or singular shots of groups of users, doesn't conclusively show a certain machine or brand is better.

Because ANY brand can assemble a list of their best customer's, pose them in a group photo, and admittedly those guys could have some impressive finds. The real test is to pit side by side machines over flagged targets, to see what machine can get the signal, with correct "call", etc...

Also some of the environments that the X3 and X5 might excell in, yet would fail miserably in other environments where alternate brands/models would do better in.

Those guys all have the x2, designed by Troy Galloway, made by Tesoro. Pretty much a modified Silver umax. The next generation, the x3 and x5 were more of a new design, were made by Fisher. I have an x2 and it is a nice little detector.

my favorite pair of Headphones are troys.
Bad thing is, even though they have a lifetime warranty,
getting them worked on is impossible

I gave up on getting anything but an empty Promise to return my Calls :(
I think I'd even be afraid to send them back now, odds are even if they contacted me and said send them in, it would probably be the last I'd see them or even hear from them again.

if they were KOSS I'm sure I would have at least gotten a Free replacement pair.

Been using them like this for at least 3 years now,
and wiggling wires every time they cut out.

Is Troy Detector Service the Same ?

Sorry Just a Bit Bitter, But I hope you can see why :unhappysmiley:

Interesting pic...where you find it? Several "big names" in the hobby in that pic.

I have a friend that has one and I have never belittled another detector but I'm not impressed by the picture at all...d2
