Many years ago, a place i hunted had a small , dilapidated hunting shack. It had the remnants
of 6 bunks (3 per side, stacked 3 high ) with just enough room to squeeze in, only a few slats
and a couple of springs survived.
It also had a small room that appeared to be added as an after thought that contained an old
wood stove and room for a small table,a dump of sorts is located directly behind this shack and
one day i hope to sift through it.
Long story short, being the adventurous soul that i am, i couldn't help digging through the interior
and pulled back the wood stove, half squashed between the floor and stove was a tin box that contained
this knife, nothing more.
It`s almost 9 inches long, white tail antler, steel blade, brass thumb guard (one side broke off, appeared
to curve back in the opposite direction of the other). There is a hollow brass pin that goes completely
through the antler, is knurled on the outside, the inside is filled with some other material.
The ends of the antler had been carved oval for some reason but nothing is there now nor was there anything laying inside the tin box. No markings of any sort anywhere on the blade.
Any idea`s on age? The shack, i`m guessing, dates back to the teens.
Appreciate any and all thoughts.
