I think I need a little help from the girls to ID this item. Found on an old dust bowl era farmstead! I think it is a makeup=kit for the ladies ,but not sure.Help me out gals! This item has a little selection dial. I took pics in each mode and then with the dial removed. The bottom compartment still had a hint of red makeup of some kind, I think! The little ring at the top is embossed or scrolled with a floral design. IT would be interesting to know what era and it's Treasurenet1 001.JPGTreasurenet1 002.JPGTreasurenet1 003.JPGTreasurenet1 004.JPG real function

I'm going to wait until I get a few more responses just to make sure, but I think you hit the nail on the head! I sure thought bit might have been a combination piece to handle tobacco also! Looks very simular to that e-bay link you sent ! Thanks a million !:icon_thumright: The Kid

This one seems more sure of their description, which is quite different than the other one... And seems to make more sense: Vintage Elginite EAM Vanity Compact Guilloche Enamel Elgin C 1930s from bridgepast on Ruby Lane If Breezie sees this thread she's going to laugh at how dumb I am about these things.

LOL Benz, no, I'm not laughing . . . but I would be laughing if I thought you knew more than you should about LADIES makeup! :tongue3:

Yes, it is a ladies Art Deco era compact. The one TexasKid found has a space for 'loose' face powder and a tube of lipstick. The wheel portion turned to prevent the power from coming out until needed. The pic of Benz compact (Ruby Lane) has a place for rouge as well as powder and lipstick.

Very neat find :)
