So true, There are many books about Shipwrecks and Treasure, What is lacking are books on the subject of Identification of artifacts. Included are a few I would consider helpfull.
"Heart of Oak" A Sailor's Life In Nelson's Navy. By James P. Mcguane Invaluable book showing excellent color pictures of artifacts.
"A Guide To Artifacts Of Colonial America" By Noel Hume. Considered a bible of books about dating artifacts.
"New York City's Buried Past" A Guide To Excavated New York City's Revolutionary War Artifacts 1776-1783. By . Many pictures of English artifacts that were recovered in the 1980's, as a result of construction in Lower Manhattan. Included are pictures of Bottles, Ceramics, Tobacco Pipes, Lead Seals, etc.
Hope this information is helpfull.
