DFX
Hello Fellow DFXer's

I have only had my DFX for about a month. I have Jeff Fosters Book and have read it and the factory manual many times. For whatever reason I just cant seem to understand what 2 of the settings actually do and what the appropriate settings would be for different detecting situations.

1. Modulation
2. hot rock reject

I have studied numerous personal programs online and in Jeffs book only to find that these 2 settings seem to vary widely from program to program.

Could someone please shed a little light on these settings for me to help me out?

Thanks

JT

I've only had mine for 2 months, and still learning on it. You got me on the Modulation.
But on the hot rocks, i'll occasionally run into some around here. Calif. I think the preset is at around 15, but i always turn it down to around 8. To me it seems to make the detector a little more stable. Like running low bottle cap rejection. Then when i do run into hot rocks, i'll turn it up appropriatly. You'll know when you hit hot rocks. After digging down and finding nothing, then scanning the pile and getting a signal, and nothing there but a few rocks. Some will give a faint signal, but some will sound off like a coin. If you ever can't find the target and wonder what the he.... , then you might check the rocks. HH

Run your hotrock setting as low as possible if there are no hot rocks. If they become a problem turn it up. Modulation just changes the sound of deeper targets. the deeper they are the more faint the sound gets with it on. with it off all targets will give a loud beep no mater the depth. Hope this helps.
