Dig revealed this in Northern Ireland. Can anyone assist with ID please?
Marks seem to be ‘36’ & ‘IDEAL’
Thank you 9a3ef2cd-8f22-4d40-aea3-4abb53ab36c2.jpgd0dd9a83-7921-4c2f-8574-2c73be65d779.jpg22d72269-8294-4061-a57e-c41ed3bd6bb1.jpg

The only thing that comes to mind is part of an old tool like a wood plane. What is it made of?

I believe it’s cast iron, will ask him tomorrow.
A foot pedal came to mind as well, like from an old tractor or farm machinery??

There was a brand of 'hit and miss' engines made in the early 20th C called Ideal.

I don't know what part that might have been but that's where I'd start my research.

May we know what and/or where the dig is? House? Farm? Port? Industrial?

I see what you mean, it’s the 12v that lends itself towards the engine.

Engines (automobile) didn't begin using 12 volts until the late 1950's. What other things are coming out of the ground?

Thank you, sounds like the right track to follow up.

Sorry, don’t know where the Dig was. It is in NI and a friend who is new to the hobby.
Just trying to help him with the ID. Thanks for all your help everyone, much appreciated.
