Just looking for anyone who can tell me anything about this foot warmer. It's 9 3/8" x 8" x 7". I know that it was used on buggies and wagons back in the day. Also interested on how the patterns and designs were put on it. Especially on the bottom. We think it is early 1800's. Thank you in advance.

No information, but I'd like to compliment you on a great item. It seems like there was a period of time when functionality wasn't enough, some simple thing like a foot warmer, besides keeping feet warm, had to be an embellished work of art. So much stuff from the Victorian period had to be fancy. My idea on that is the working people didn't have the extra money to buy art, so they made the things they used every day into art.
