Greetings,
Searched among the rocks in jetty today,
pulled out what I thought was old gold coin II,
shiny as the sun, suitably thin for its size, I brought it down to the water to rinse,
& find small encrustation on back, Button.
Another brass button found shows odd ring corrosion pattern, as if it was built up on another type of metal.
A plain cast pewter button.
A Draped Bust Cent somewhere between 1797-1807,
Wreath is quite clear, from this I can only rule out a 1796, maybe someone can do better?? Obverse is gone, can only make out the chin area.
Got a fully encrusted coin, Unknown till I flaked off crust with toothpick & inside was this nice '67 Shield Nickel, too bad they all don't clean up like this.
Thanks for looking, going back today, HH to you all, Herbie.

Thanks Deepdiger, Would SO love to add a Liberty Cap to my collection,
It is the only US LC that I lack, but the wreath is single leaves (like willow)
up to 1796, & multiple leaves after..(mostly)
they list multiple reverse variations.
Thanks for your reply! HH Herbie.
