Hello everyone again,

I was back at it, I try to go as much as possible at least a few hours ,a few days a week. At the local park where I live I had about 30 minutes to hunt before my wife came home. It looked like a good day hardly anyone at the park. Well I will dig a few signals then go home. After a couple of clad dimes and a few pennies, I saw I had some watchers. There was an old guy sitting on a bench, a guy and his wife riding bicycles. I also noticed they were the only ones in the park when I had arrived. Strangely enough when I got to the spot I was going to hunt there they were watching me with in 50 feet. Hmm I thought to myself, they were about 300 yards away when I entered the park now they are right where I am. Within a few minutes the one guy age I'd say 30's comes over to me and acts all interested and tells me he watches all the youtube videos and he is thinking about buying a metal detector. But what he says to me makes me weary, he says isn't it illegal to metal detect in the park?? I said NO, its legal, in fact you can obtain county and state park permission if you so desire to. Well after 25 minutes, I realized my time is up and I need to get home. As I am packing up my gear I look to my right and there is a police officer driving in his car. He stops and asks me if I found anything good? I have talked to them in the past and have never had an issue with them at this park. I just happened to have a 50 caliber bullet and a few silver coins I had dug previous week. After speaking with the police officer and showing him a few finds. He asks me if I have identification on me. First thought I am thinking I am getting a citation. He states that they have received a call for divots in the park! I explain to him that I do the best job I can, I carry a bag with me and remove all the trash, and pick up all the surface trash that I see on the ground. I told him I always try to do the best job that I can repairing the hole. After showing him my big bag of trash; cans, can tops, nails, pull tabs, bottle caps, shredded cans and foil. He knows that what I am saying is true about cleaning up the park and fixing the holes as best as I can. He tells me that I am not in any trouble, I am not receiving any citations and I am welcome to come back and metal detect anytime I choose to. I am sure glad that I follow the code and dig and take the trash with me. Make me wonder if that guy that was talking to me earlier called on me. Funny how he was hanging out in the area while I was talking to the cop. I think he was the culprit... The next day I returned to the same park and hunted for a few hours found a few clad quarters and a clad dime and penny and this ring. I was using my ctx3030 and got a 13-46 signal at 6inches of depth. Does anyone know how old this ring is? Or anything more about it? Thanks,

Nice find on that ring! Is it silver? Also I got scared for a minute I thought the shell was leaking blood hahaha. And I do believe he may have been the one.

Yes, I think its silver it says 825 on it. I cleaned it up with jewelry cleaner and it seems to be shinning. Anyone know the age of this ring?

I don't know the age but that is an awesome story. I'm glad it worked out for you. Karma rocks. That is a nice ring. HH WH.

I was out digging one day at a local school when I hear this voice. DROP THE KNIFE! I look up to see a sheriff standing there. Once again he says, DROP THE KNIFE!
All I had in my had was a screwdriver so I tossed it on the ground. I'm sure I looked very surprised.
As soon as he saw the screwdriver on the ground he calmed down a bit.
The whole time he was there I had my digger in my back pocket which looks like a rambo knife and he never said a word about that.

He said somebody had called in saying they saw someone burying something out there. I'm not sure I believe him. I was a little surprised how far this guy had walked from his car to question me. I was all the way across the field. He knew what I was doing.

After he ran my I.D. he said, you know, there's nothing wrong with what you're doing and he left.

The good news of the story is, I know I don't have any warrants. lol

That's a cool ring by the way. Hand made for sure. Possibly native american?

Nice find and a great story. The ring does look old and I do see MEXICO on it. Are you sure its not 925?

Nice job clearing trash ! and the ring is more likely .925 - made in Mexico - not too old 70's , 80's , 90's - Looks to be sterling with copper , and a tiny malachite stone
or turquoise .

After carefully examining the inside band with a loupe I was able to read the 25 and there was an 8 in front of the 25 so it reads 825.

Thanks Fix,

Thats an interesting story of what happened to you!! I dig all the time with my lesche (rambo knife) surprisingly I have never had this happen to me yet. Sounds like someone else was watching you and called on you for your digger, good thing you were digging with your screwdriver at the time. I am glad to see I am not the only one with the run in from local law enforcement. I am wondering how many other fellow detectors have had a morning chat with local law enforcement?? Might be a good thread to start!!
