Following in Cru's footsteps

At last, the camera is fixed. here are a few finds from the Cru WOW! field plus a fairly rare Roman (square) seal box.
This was found some days ago in the field 500yards from the WOW! field of Cru's post yesterday.
The Roman Silver (only my second) is Hadrian. Around 95AD. Looking forward to Cru's post from today (Sunday). Cru last seen in rainstorms trudging another seven+ hour hunt on this field that may be sown tomorrow, so hunting will have to stop til 20011. Also spotted Cru Dad somewhere in the driving rain!

Thanks Chris, This field is a real virgin site. But huge. There are three roman occupation sites within 500/ 1000 yds , all linked, it will take some time (3/4 seasons) to interpret the gps and finds data.

Talking of luck, he strolls on late with his dog (nothing wrong with that bit), hunts for less than 1 hour & gets the earliest (solid) silver Roman coin from the site (mine have been later billion types). Here's the bit you will like, on the run that had the silver I asked him to choose, he didn't play ball like you & give me the good one :laughing9:

The very nearby site with the rare box seal, hasn't even had the Cru touch yet :o Might not have time this year :dontknow:

BIG CONGRATS TO LAND-MAG :hello2:

Re: Following in Cru's footsteps

Re: Following in Cru's footsteps

Great silver, awesome box with all the enameling still on it. Great day out, and the perfect time to get the camera fixed. :icon_thumright:

I don't think he would give up much of a fight like Dad :laughing7:

Nice seal box...unusual, do you think that the Roman Silver might be deliberately defaced :dontknow:

Not sure. Interesting point. Cru said the head on these in mint is initially. really raised, so susceptible to damage and wear.?

Most well struck Silvers have raised portraites, usually when they go through machinery you would expect chunks of the flan, to be missing, but your defacing looks deliberate :o
