Stepping rock, is it natural or man-made? In the lower area below overhang, keep picking up both metallic relics and a few non-metallic targets.

I was getting a small hit for crude oil, so had to do some research here. Yes, there is treasure, a fortune to be made from rocks called oil shale.

Oil Shale Resources

The Book Cliffs are part of a broader geological area that includes significant oil shale deposits, particularly associated with the Green River Formation. This formation is estimated to hold between 500 billion to 1.1 trillion barrels of recoverable shale oil resources across Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming

. While the Book Cliffs themselves may not be the primary focus for conventional crude oil extraction, they are situated near these rich oil shale deposits.

That corner is looking more like a retaining wall.

I was just thinking, maybe everyone is getting bored with seeing photos of gold and silver treasures. Came across this unusual article at the British Dowsing forums. It might be a little off topic, but worth a try at your site. Somewhere in the Book Cliffs ancient Puebloans had a high panel circle calandar.

BBC wrote:What happened on a spooky Highland paranormal investigation?
Set in the Victorian-era heart of the Highland village of Strathpeffer is a beautiful pavilion.
Built more than 140 years ago, its visitors have included suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst and The Beatles.
But after recent strange goings-on, there are some who believe the place is haunted...[SNIP]

...The investigators have equipment they say can provide clues to potential paranormal activity. They have EMF meters to detect changes in electromagnetic fields, audio recorders and a camera.

A set of dowsing rods are handed round for us to try.
They are similar to divining rods some claim can be used to find water, and that UK water companies have used in the past to search for underground pipes.
The distinction between 'dowsing' and 'divining' rods is spurious. They still use the term 'water divining' in the States (not to mention the even worse 'water witching'), but the BSD over here decided very early on to only use the term 'dowsing' to keep things sounding scientific.
I've highlighted the last part as in the article, it contains a link to a very old page citing Ms. Sally LeP. But you can read the entire article by clicking HERE.
