Hey guys,

Last week I asked about suggestions for making a detector rack for my Tahoe. Although I got some great suggestions, I didn't get any real examples what people had actually done. So, I set out to engineer my own. I wanted simple, but sturdy...what good would a rack be if the machines weren't safe.

The base is two 1x8's about 55 inches long. The upright pieces are 2x8's cut to 16" length. The "rack" are basic fishing rod holders from Dick's Sporting Goods. Also have some industrial strength velcro on the ends of the boards to keep the rack in place, but easy enough to remove. I still may stain it, but for now, everything is solid. The machines are held into place tight and are not going anywhere. Plus, I still have room for my gear box, trash bucket, shovels, etc. underneath. It works.

i see you liked the fishing rod holder idea lol

Why not just purchase a shotgun rack and hang it there :dontknow: :laughing7:

Oh yeah, trade in the Tahoe and get a good pickup truck too while you're at it :icon_thumright: :tongue3:

Is that a display for thieves? Will your insurance cover the detectors and that side window? This world isn't what it use to be. I would consider it a high cost for the bragging rights on those detectors! Frank

I have to agree with Frankn .... Mine are always out of sight ....A little safer that way..............

You could always just simply cover them with a blanket or something so you are not advertising to would be thieves.

Worked like a charm!
