Flying Burrito Brothers at the 1st annual Seattle Pop Festival in Woodinville, WA in the summer of 1969. The Seattle Pop Festival was held once and only once, on the weekend of July 25th-27th, 1969 at Gold Creek Park in Woodinville. An estimated 50,000 to 70,000 people attended the 1969 festival. The list of bands that played at this festival over 3 days included some huge names like The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Santana & Spirit. Cover art is derived from the festival concert poster, posted as a .png file with the complete list of bands that performed.
This 15-song set was recorded and broadcast by KISW FM 100, "Seattle's Best Rock". In 1969, the station was purchased by Kaye-Smith, a partnership of famed actor/ comedian Danny Kaye and businessman Lester Smith, and minority owner Frank Sinatra. This pop festival was the station's first big splash on the Seattle music scene. In 1971, KISW became a progressive rock (or "underground") station, similar to the sound pioneered by Tom Donahue at KMPX and KSAN in San Francisco.
