Metal Detecting
Got out recently with ErikinNJ for a day of site scouting. We didn't do a lot of detecting, but we did decide to spend a little time at an abandoned house that Erik had previous success with, pulling out early LCs and more. This house sits almost right on top of a very busy exit ramp of a crowded highway. The ground was frozen in many spots, so a few targets had to be left for another day. One of the targets I gave up on at first was ringing loudly at an 85 VDI. Curiousity killing me, I eventually returned to it and chipped away at the ground inasmuch as I could. Finally, I uncovered the target, a very nice flowing hair watch fob. (Unfortunately, I dinged it a bit because of the hindered digging conditions.) I'm curious as to its age. A Google image search yielded one match to an old eBay listing, which called it "Art Nuveau/Art Deco." Could be indeed, but based on past finds at the site, I'm hoping it's earlier. Anyway, HH.
