Trying to figure out what these are called. Long thick stem with pinkish flowers. I see them growing at many old homesites dating 1840s and onward. There is a thick, fibrous bulb at the bottom. I'm pretty sure I've seen the bulbs alone in the ground, maybe in winter, as if they only flower in the summer, or at least flower and wither with the seasons. Seems like they were planted as part of a garden long ago, and later generations survive.

Anybody know?? Cru? Kuger? ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for looking!

Lack of leaves would make me think of Lycoris squamigera (resurrection lily)

Wow that's eerie! We were waiting for the inevitable at my parents house due to my Dad's terminal illness (He passed on 24 Sep 2011), and these 3 flowers just popped up in the middle of the yard. For some reason I took a picture of them (I'm not much of a flower person), and was just sitting here wondering what they were, and this thread comes up.

Pete, :hello:
They are common around here for early 1900 late 1800 old home sites. Also daffodil's around these type sites. Those two are give aways here for sites in the spring of that era.I'm sure they have many hybrid types of lilly's now though.

Thank you guys for the replies! Might be hard to narrow it down exactly with the lack of flowers, but it's good to hear similar varieties are found at old home sites all over. Thanks guys and lady! :)

Tim!! Where and how have you been?? It's been a long time man. Things treating you well? Find your marbles yet??? :tongue3: :occasion14: :occasion14:

Mike - sorry to hear about your loss. I'm glad this thread came up at the right time. Little things that happen in times like these are never coincidences :)
