Floris man finds coin collection in his backyard

FLORIS — Art Cochell has discovered a coin collector’s paradise in his own backyard.

A couple years ago when he was tearing down part of an old clothesline pole on his property, Cochell noticed some antique coins on the ground that had fallen from the severed pipe.

Cochell has lived at the residence for around five years now. He had heard a rumor that the man who lived in the house prior had put coins down the clothesline pole


Art Cochell uses a Shop Vac to try and recover some hidden coins fom what used to be a clothesline pole in the ground. He has found a number of valuable coins that apparently were dropped there by the previous home-owner. - Courier Photo by: Scott Niles

Well, IF His clothes Lines are like Mine.
Digging them up will ad another Problem.

The Clothes lines in my yard are incased in Cement.

ALOT OF CEMENT

I Dug one up a couple years ago
had to hook a Chain to it & Pull
it out with My Jimmy in 4 wheel drive.
wasn't easy.

Now you have it out.
Cement isn't easy to Crack
let alone Lift it up & Dump it out.
when you got a boulder size lump.

He would probably do best as he is
till the time comes.

Then
looks like with it sawed off
he could maybe Hook a chain to the
ball of cement & Flip it upside down.

Hopefully the Cement was Dry Before Being used for a Bank.

And Who Knows, Maybe it's not in
Cement but in a Large Barrel
Or Cement Vault Built for the Purpose

Jeff ...thats exactly how mine were put in....I dug one out and the cement around the bottom was at least two feet across and two feet deep...the hole was at least 3 x3.....I hooked the John Deere riding lawn mower to pull it out.....the second one I hired the neighbor boy to dig it and gave him twenty bucks ...it was worth it!
