florida warning shots

She went to her car, got a gun, came back in the house and fired...when your in fear of your life, you don't go back to the danger...if you cant figure this one out, I cant help you.

Correct, you can't go out to your car, then go back in the home and use "stand your ground", you have already fled the scene.

If she had had the gun in her possession in the home she would have had a good defense.....

Like Am Express never be without it. I own 4 pistols placed through out my home, easy access if needed, but out of the way from any small kids...

Id assume she just had a crappy lawyer, probably a public defender. When facing a mandatory 20 year jail sentence always hire a decent lawyer.

In her shoes I would have taken the 3 and appealed the case. 3 vs mandatory 20 is not good odds.

Some info or something seem to still be missing about this because of the domestic abuse aspect..

Hmm I some how missed that part when I first read the article. Yup she blew it, Since she removed herself from the dangerous area, then armed herself and went back....

20 years is way too much; she should have gotten probation.

I think if she had actually shot the dude she would have gotten off with a lot less. There seems to be a mandatory sentence for firing a weapon in that manner?
Thought I had heard or read that somewhere.

I can't say, but laws don't always make sense.
