Well I hooked up with Mark from Florida straight shaft today . Great guy ,honest as the day is long. Mark set my excal on the new shaft for me , Thirty minutes later I was on the beach. A big world of difference compared to the stock set up .....needless to say the finds were meager at best . We really need some weather over here , big time . I went an hour in the wet sand without a hit .got in the dry and found some clad ..Anyway tomorrow is another day....Guzz1

I knew you would like the Fla Straight Shaft, both of my excals have one I bought from him. He is a great guy.

Welcome to TN Mark.

I bought my first one from you about a year ago. There was a problem through ebay's buy it now and two were ordered by mistake. You quickly fixed the problem and shipped out my shaft and understood the 2nd order was a mistake. I appreciated your understanding and honesty and have recommended you every time someone has asked about a shaft.

I ordered the 2nd shaft from you this past summer, before I even received my backup excal in the mail.

Good luck and good hunting.

I just ordered my FL straight shaft from Ebay. Currently I have my Excalibur 1000 mounted via hip mount, but have decided to give the straight shaft a try. Anything I should know about when mounting it on the straight shaft?

No, it is pretty simple. I use to have mine on the straight shaft, but I started hanging it from my neck and found I like it better. I still like and use the straight shaft even with out the control on it. I like the feel and balance of it and it allows me to reach deeper when needed in the surf.

TKS. I like the sound of your option...kind of a comprise of methods. I've consulted with Sandman about the neck placement and like that idea. But then again, I also like the straight shaft method too.

Kind of makes me wonder...does Minelab ever check with customers for their input regarding future models? I have seen so much negative info about the stock shaft...and have to agree with it............you'd think they would be biting at the bit to get customer input for future production. Or...am I being too "mental"?
