Marion County, Florida — On October 26, 2024, around 5:43 p.m., Deputies with Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a suspicious incident at SE 59th Street, where they found, 41-year-old James Brady lying in a field. According to the arrest report, Brady had admitted to using drugs and even warned deputies to "have your doors locked," stating that he enjoyed stealing cars. Moments later, Brady ran towards the nearby patrol vehicles and was able to get into the cruiser and take control of it. A pursuit ensued, with deputies and officers from the Ocala Police Department following Brady through city streets, ultimately stopping him near Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue with a successful PIT maneuver. The chase concluded without injuries, and Brady was promptly detained and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he now faces multiple charges, including grand theft of a motor vehicle and aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer. Law enforcement confirmed that a rifle was inside the stolen vehicle during the incident.
