Dug this up in Northern Michigan along the shores of Lake Michigan. There appears to be a letter "C" (or O) along with an ornate design. Any idea? IMG_20180503_073702.jpgIMG_20180503_073721.jpgIMG_20180503_073713.jpg

I recognize it from something but I can't remember... It sure looks familiar

That's a cool butt plate.
Sorry I don't have any answers for you, but a great find for sure.

I might be wrong, but it looks like a man in the center looking left. His hand(s) are in front of his face to the left like he is holding a cup. Above his head it looks like a jug pouring water into his cup. Some sort of club on his left shoulder. Okay, say I'm crazy. Gary

How do you know that it's from a flintlock? It could also be from a snaphaunce or a precussion. Most if not all muzzle loader had a metal butt plate.

It looks either French or Spanish military or maybe even a trade musket. Very cool find!!

Just re-read my last post...spell check changed whatever I meant to type. I meant to say "not 100% certain that it came from a flintlock rifle".
