I found one just like that in Ohio. I believe it is British (and the honey colored are French?).

Cool find

Chuck

a while back i think i found one of french flint
it was about the size of 2 quarters stacked on top of each other with a 45 degree chipped bevel all the way around
i don't know if i kept it cuz i did not know what it was
i will look for it, it might be mixed in with a bucket or two of scrapers
i think i overlooked a lot of things over the years

Nice Gun Flint larson. Those are rare finds. I only have one that I have found in my 45 years of hunting and it's the honey colored French Flint.

A buddy of mine used to build and shoot Flintlocks for a hobby and he ordered some of the French Flint off of the internet and it was identical to my piece.

With all the trade that happened on your site towards the end it would be wise to use a metal detector to save the metals that may be rotting away in the soil. That and any copper culture artifacts. You would have a blast finding that stuff and saving it........

I JUST LEARNED SOMTHING NEW I KNOW I HAVE ONE AIN`T GOT A FREAKIN IDEA WHERE THOUGH . LARS I HAFT TO SAY THAT YOUR POST ARE AT THE TOP OF MY TOP TEN LIST ON TNET.
