Is the star some type of Jewish star? Also what do you guys think the value is.. I bought the pair for 3 bucks. I'm wondering if I could sell it whole or should I pull out that gold with the quartz on it!

Yes, some of my great aunts are members, I believe it is a sort of ladies auxiliary organization for the Masons, for lack of a better explanation.

I'm going to mark this as solved guys.. However im going to check eBay. If its all cheapness I'm going to open it up and sell the quartz nuggets. Any ideas how to with little effort remove the clear molding?

Your Eastern Star earrings style is known as 'Lucite (sometimes called Resin) Thermoset Gold Flake,' which was very popular in the 1950's and part of the early 1960s. Of course the clip back was used in the same era.

Neat find :) Breezie

Hey brezzie thanks! Do u think in that time period the Stars were gold. Also there's flakes of gold in there but also I saw quartz gold as well. Was wondering what u think they would value at or should I try to extract allthe stuff in the resin? I paid 3 dollars for these earrings.

Hey brezzie thanks! Do u think in that time period the Stars were gold. Yes, I think they 'could' have been gold, silver, plated, non-plated, etc. Both gold and silver were used during that time. Gold is marked, so if these earrings are gold, they would be marked 10K, 14K or whatever. Also there's flakes of gold in there but also I saw quartz gold as well. Was wondering what u think they would value at or should I try to extract all the stuff in the resin? I think you would have to heat the resin to extract the flakes and quartz; then there might be a possibility the resin will not separate from the gold. It would probably be a major ordeal. These gold flakes look larger than they really are because being set in resin gives them a 'fish-eye' appearance. I paid 3 dollars for these earrings. If they were mine, I would list them for sale 'as is,' because I feel like the sale price would be much higher than the melt value of the small flakes of gold inside.

Good Luck :) Breezie
