Flat hose question?

I have a question about using 1.5" flat hose for dredging. I know it's only for discharge. Will it work carrying the material From my suction nozzle to my sluice ? I thought it might clog or tear easy.

It might work if the hose was perfectly straight all the time. That type of hose has a tendency to kink when it is bent a little. Also, it would wear out quickly and it " flutters" as water pressure changes.

youll have problems with rock jams! 1st kink you get will jam it up!

As stated before, will jam up terribly. Have you thought of using pool vacum hose? Not as strong as regular dredge suction hose but as far as being lighter and a slight bit cheaper might be a better way for you!

well that definitely gives you the answer.....you would not want to use your flat hose for the suction portion....the flat line is typically used for an intake to your highbanker.... at the job I recently left I sometimes explained several times in a day how to get a highbanker/dredge combo set up for folks that received said equipment with no instructions. Such fun.....poor guys were pretty frustrated but we got it all figured out and I loved visiting with them and helping them get it set up.....kept offering to come help run it but no takers! lol
