Flat button or coin ?

I know flat buttons are common finds. But, not to me. This is my first. This come out of a yard that has a tremendous amount of political history . I hope someone can identify it. Thanks to the homeowners that gave me permission to hunt. The obverse is flat but nothing that I can tell.

Button, you can see the 8 shaped center where the shank was soldered on.
