This plain flat button reads "Rich Treble Gilt" and also has a maker name on it but I can't make out all the letters. From what I've been told about similar buttons I found this is prob. a British import button... correct?

The letters I can see are:

"TLE" then a symbol that resembles a "W" but I think it is a symbol not a W and then "Co"

Before the "TLE" possibly an "OA" or "CA".

Any help apreciated!

Thanks ;D

I'll try! I was nervous I would wipe it all off.

What are you using? I don't think there's much risk for a flat button... you'll find more! (Not that I think you will cause any harm by a little more cleaning - if done right)

I had just been using baking soda and water. I just got a little crazy and used vinegar/baking soda/water. I don't know if that is a "no no" but it certainly had a satisfying fizz :D

And I now see that the thing I thought was a symbol or W is actually looks now to be a "Y" and I think what I thought was a "T" could maybe be another "L"

So now I have "....ALLEY & Co." or "...ATLEY & Co"

I might have to clean some more...
