I braved the cold with jraven this weekend and spent a few hours in a park. After hearing a weak signal and pinpointing at 7 inches, I decided to dig - expecting yet another piece of cut-up aluminum can. A 6 inch deep plug came up empty, and further checking confirmed the hole was still good. I cut and removed another section of dirt, cracked it open, and saw the bright, silver edge of a dime shining in the sun! After cleaning, I was thrilled to find a 1902 Barber in great condition! Even after years of detecting I am still amazed when silver comes out of the ground looking like the day it was lost.

Welcome to T-net. It is really cool how silver can come out of the ground looking so nice. I'm guessing that coin was dropped very soon after being put into circulation. Congratulations on finding a great looking Barber dime.
Thanks! My Barbers in the past sure had seen more time in circulation!
