Flakes? Blades?

I recently found these at a site among other things. They all seem to be manufactured the same way. I was wondering if these are just flakes or possibly blades off a core. I think I’ve got a Cuestas phase hopewell site, kind of a far west peripheral hopewell people. If I’m not mistaken blades have been associated with hopewell... or maybe I’m just looking too hard at flakes trying to support my id... other thing they resemble is a poor attempt at gunflints... that would add a whole new component to that site. What do you guys think

Looks like pretty tough material for gunflints which are usually made from French and English flint. Maybe you can find some debitage of the same materials and strike it to see if it throws a good spark . I am thinking it is debitage.

So far I agree with everything haha, they do look like gunflints but I’m pretty certain the black material is a local material that according to a buddy wasn’t officially described until recently, Galesburg chert. The white isn’t uncommon but I’m not sure what it is. I have found a few square nails, so a trade era component is possible but some of the points and pottery date much earlier
