Howdy All!,
My name is Bunk and I live in N. AZ. I got a Exterra70 in Oct. and a gp3500 in Nov. I am mostly into gold prospecting but do like to hunt coins and relics at old home sites and ghost towns here in AZ.
I am thinking about taking a vacation to Fla. and was wondering what would be the best place to do some beach hunting? I have never been to Fla. and don't want to run a foul of the law, as at fifty years old, I am still way to cute to end up in jail!
I have heard stories about detecting spanish coins on the beach and would like to try me luck at it if it is legal to do so. I would also be interested in modern coins as well.
Thanks for any help or ideas!

I don't know, but I was in Panama City Beach and Fort Myers Beach and didn't have much luck, but, you know how it goes, you have to be on top of them to find them, ......................I wasn't :D

Long as you stay out of any State parks on the coast, out of the water along the treasure coast, you are fairly safe as far as the law goes. Judging from the finds I see from those down south of me (Orlando) any where from south beach in Miami north up east coast you have a fair chance of finding something nice if your lucky, and you don't try to speed hunt. West coast from Sanabel Island north to Port Richey seems to produce as well.

Daytona Beach seems to be slow now :( till some winter storms hit unless you can find a stretch of beach that has been missed being detected.

It appears from reading the daily finds here that everyone on this site is finding some nice treasure but me :'( :'(

There are many on the site that will respond that know a whole lot more then me about where to hunt, especially the treasure coast, but with all the sand they dumped after the hurricanes it is slim pickings at the moment from what I have read here, UNLESS your real lucky.

I'm an optimist though, I figured there is always that chance if I do go of finding something nice and I know for a fact that if I don't go hunt I'm 100% sure not to find anything. ;D

I'm in Orlando so let me know if your in the area and maybe we can do a hunt if the time permits.

Welcome aboard Bunk. Glad to have you with us. The hobby and this site is very addictive. Great place to learn. Look forward to your pics.

I don't know about detecting in Florida. I'm wondering about that myself.

Lots of beaches here in the panhandle, Pensacola to Panama city. I find anywhere from $5 to 15 dollars of change on any givin day on the beaches, Pensacola beach or Navarre beach. Few rings ,chains, anklets.
Parks are also good here.. Jacksonville and all the east coast beaches are good also..Just take your pick .. I think you will find things on any one of them. I have never been totally shut out, maybe only change but always something. It just depends on where you want to vacation.
Good luck....
