Several years ago, I was able to buy some bags off the machine at Five Star Bank (Rochester, NY area), then they told me I couldn't buy them because I didn't have a personal account. About a month ago, I asked again about buying the bags and they said the same thing. So, I finally opened an account and specifically told them that I was only doing it so I could buy the bags. No problem, until I actually asked to buy bags. Last week, I asked and they told me that they shipped them all out the day before. So I called earlier this week only to be told "We aren't allowed to sell the bags because we can't guarantee the count is right." When I reminded them that I made it clear I had opened the account for the specific purpose of getting the bags, the response was that there is a new regional manager that issued the new directive in the last couple of weeks.
I'm not happy and I told them I'd close the account. I feel like they told me what I wanted to hear just to get the account opened.

25 yrs ago or more the banks in Canada have been putting a service fee on coinage. We can get a roll or two, but when it comes to the coin rolling-nope.
The banks even started to charge for taking out cash when I owned a scrap company.
Slowly this hobby will be suppressed in most states as well.
