My company has moved to a one week on, one week off layoff due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the inevitable slow down in construction equipment sales here in Ontario. So last week I took advantage of the mild weather to detect a few sites that I’ve hit previously or that are only accessible after the snow melts. I will post pics of all the sites, then of all the finds I made. After I’d washed and photographed everything I was scanning through the photos on my phone and noticed that I was missing some of the finds from one of my hunts. :icon_scratch: I use Ziploc freezer bags to store my finds in from each site… thankfully after a visit back to my truck I found it. These are the last four pics that you’ll see.

Some of the more interesting finds were a sash buckle, a number of porcelain & glass buttons, a pewter or lead horse rosette, a horse tack ‘shield’ buckle and a ‘Railroad Signal’ overalls button. The little piece below the ‘shield’ buckle is a porcelain articulated dolls arm.

Thanks very much for looking and have a peaceful Easter weekend!
Dave

Thanks very much for your post smokey.
You're correct, this is a British Knapsack buckle, made by the Isaac Campbell Company. I've been detecting a site east of Toronto for a number of years that was settled by a British officer who was a War of 1812 veteran from Upstate New York. I feel that he was 're-purposing' the leather from the British military 'knapsacks' and the horse tack, to-date I've found close to 200 of these buckles there. My 'martingale' avatar also came from this site, I found 6 of these martingales there, but only 1 knapsack badge and no loops, only the buckles. :icon_scratch:

Best of luck to you,
Dave

Collio digs man.

Thanks for your post Tommy.
I find it very peaceful to be on these sites before the farmers start to disk the fields for planting.

Best of luck to you,
Dave

Great way to spend time and love the Confederate knapsack buckle. :)

Thanks very much Crusty! :icon_thumleft:
If you look up the page to see my response to smokeythecat's post, I give a bit of history on the site where I found this buckle.

Thanks for your post Cru.
These are all lands east of Toronto that have been sold and are slated for residential building.

Hope you and your Dad are both keeping well,
Dave
