Been getting out and about for a few more hunts over the last ten days or so, but not having much luck at the few permissions I have got so far.
Monday I hit an 1905 house for four hours and all I got was a few wheats and one silver spoon. On the way back home I had some time left before dark so I
thought I would hit my local park again maybe I`ll get lucky and find a wheat I missed or some clad.
I spent about 45 mins going over a spot I had hit many, many times before and all of a sudden got a real jumpy 23-26 that was deep, so I thought I should dig it,
turns out it was a deep Merc down almost 9 inches, once I cleaned it off I saw 1916 staring back at me, was excited for a moment until I flipped it over and saw the
"S" mint mark! Maybe next time.
Saturday I was able to get three more permissions and all I found was a few more wheats and a 1945 war nickel, hey at least I got silver. On the way home I
decided to hit my park again just to see if that Merc was a fluke, or maybe there might be another silver hiding nearby?
I decided to grid the area and work real so and see if anything else would pop up, took only about five minutes and bang, out pops another 1945 war nickel, second one today! I only got two last year and now two in the same day.
A couple passes later out pops a 1963 Rosy and after getting up and swinging once, I get a solid 13 and bang, out comes a Buffalo nickel only about a foot from the Rosy!
That was neat so I keep going and get a deep 25-27 signal and this time its a 1920 Merc! Kept going and didn`t get anything other than clad for about 30 minutes and I decided I had enough, it was time to go home.
On the way to the truck, I made one pass perpendicular to the way I had been going and all of a sudden got another strong 26 signal, don`t know how I missed it a few minutes earlier, once I dug the hole, it took almost five minutes to find my target, another silver, this time a 1907 Barber!
That makes 11 silvers and 10 Indians for the year, not too bad a start for the first month.
Also got a 13 quarter spill next to spruce tree, not one of them was deeper that half an inch.
