fisher f70

Hi Merv. welcome and crongrats on the new F70. You have chosen a very capable piece of equipment. I will tell you right now the amount of research you do learning this incredible detector will determine weather you will love or hate the F70. Like many other units, the depth you are going to be effective at will be determined by the type of ground conditions you have in your area. The F70 is a sensitive unit that really is very flexible when it comes to all around conditions. Read and get familiar with the owners manual. Do web searches on several different websites including you tube tutorials. Do not be afraid to turn your sensitivity and threshold adjustments down if conditions demand due to much noise. This will help cut down on false signals that can originate from big iron rust and other trash signals. Also digging only repeatable signals at first will help cut down on trash items. A good ground balance in the autotune mode is a good place to start then switch to discrimination mode to set up your style preferences. There are so many things to add to your arsenal of knowledge when it comes to the F70. Finds treasure forum has a good F series thread with several informative posts on that model. This site here at treasure net also touch on the F70 in some of the old posts if you look back. Once you familiarize yourself with the basic operation of the F70 you will be able to interact with the other owners better and share knowledge with them. This is the best way to learn in the shortest amount of time. You chose a very good detector. Don't get discouraged with it. They can be a little overwhelming at first but I promise you once you get past this you will like it very much. I use low discrimination, maybe about3 or 4. Sensitivity can be 60 or higher in very clean and quiet soil but may need to go as low as 30 or 35 if ground is trash infested or high emi content. Threshold I usually run at zero unless again it is real noisy and trashy. Then I will run it as low as -3. I use default speed and either 4 tones or delta pitch tones where each different signal has its own tone assignment. Hope to hear about your many good finds with your new adventure--HH and good luck.

Congrates merv on ur new f70

Thanks idbiggin
You have been very helpful I appreciate it. I know it's going to take time and i know I'm going to love the f70 once I get use to it

Hi Gary
I tried it in doors but it didn't work out too good the F 70 had too much chatter inside the house so I went outside and buried a coin in the snow about 10 inches and it would not pick it up however I could pick it up at 8 inches I have the standard 10 inch coil that comes with the f70
