Well just received my F5 and is as green as they get :icon_scratch:

Have done a lof of reading and research into what and when. My biggest problem (at the moment) is the available places to detect. Live on an island (yes we have brigde) with few and small farms, no parks (people use mother nature), and few public places that’s not asphalt or concrete. I have however looked up the different beaches in the area and was positively surprised at the quantity and sizes (can´t compare to what you have in the states). This gives me some nice hunting grounds until I have had the opportunity to talk to the farmers in the area about detecting on their land.

The main challenge is of course, what settings to use? One thing is the dry sand, shouldn´t be that big of a problem, but what about the wet sand? Anyone got some insights into settings that have worked well for them in the wet conditions?

Depending on the amount of salt concentrations and black sand, your detector may not be stable in the wet sand. You might be able to lower sens but will lose a lot of depth. Run as low a disc as you can and definitely dig anything in the pull tab range and nickel as this is where 90% of the gold rings will show up. The others will be in the foil range (white gold)

I've never used a newer fisher (FT products) on a salt beach in wet sand but I know they're only single frequency machines so it's going to be tough to get any depth/stability out of the machine

you may or may not have to turn the sens down to 2 or 3 to get it to stabilize but definitely do as sandman said and turn the disc down to 0 or 1 and dig all mid tones/high tones (or foil on up on the TID).

the old cz fishers (and the CZ3d still available) are 2 frequency machines and work/ed in salt water/sand really well

I know the Gold Bug Pro will too

HH and keep us updated on how it does/you do
