Fisher CZ7

I own a CZ-6. Basically the same detector - a great detector. A true Fisher in it's own right. Usually will whip anything out there for depth. The tones that you hear from these detectors can be annoying for some - especially the high pitched ones! Good headphones with volume controls are a must with the Fishers. You can dial down the volume it it is too loud. The CZ detectors are heavy though - swing a Tesoro after swinging a CZ and the Tesoro feels like air!

I have a 7a pro i used for years.good machines.
I did not find it all that heavy.

I see that many people on here have several, usually more than one at least, detectors in their collection. My first question would be why would you want/need more than one? (this excludes specialty detectors). Another question would be if I were to add one to my collection, what would you suggest?

Think of detectors as tools to do a job. You need different ones for different locations or applications. Sorta like a golfer using more than one club.

Which ones you get will depend on where or what you are hunting. Notice I said, "ONES" you get as two or more. If you live near a saltwater beach you should look into a good water detector with a saltwater mode.

A back up machine is a must if you take road trips or drive fairly long ways to detect. I had my back up machine loaned out one time and I drove an hour to detect on a battle field .I got there and got caught in the rain.I had a plastic bag over my control box but some moisture seeped in and my detector started acting very erratic. It was unusable . My buddy was pulling up buttons ,musket balls and coins and there I was with out a working machine. My detector started working again after three hours sitting in the car with the heat on but I lost three hours of prime hunting. :'(

Thanks for the info. For your backup would you choose something just as good as your "primary" or would you purchase something cheaper or slightly less capable?

There are so many detectors to choose from. I'm more into coin and relic hunting. I live in Texas so I don't need a detector for hunting nuggets or salt water areas (although my CZ7 has a setting for this). I'd like to have a backup that is good for coins, buttons, etc and works well in areas with lots of small iron in the ground as well as trash. I like my CZ7 but I'm thinking of purchasing a different model (whites) for a backup. Any ideas? Your input is appreciated.
