Fisher CZ-5 & CZ-6a

It's been a few years since I have had these out. The wife has the 5 and I have the 6a. Both are in flawless condition, kept in cases etc. Getting awful tired of setting around the house this winter and want to go out as soon as the weather permits. Checked and the units fit under the seat of my 650 Burgman scooter, so ready to go. As we still don't have any clubs or dealers in this area I have this question. How do these units stack up against the new technology such as the F75? Worth considering upgrading one of these units and if so, what could I expect for trade in value from any of the net dealers.?

I can't believe that we are in a area pop. of 175,000, 90 miles from Chicago, 60 from Madison, WI and there are no detector shops other than maybe Gander mountain or Walmart specials. Oh well, went through this 15 years ago!

Look forward to your thoughts and comments..........

I know that Windy city detectors is in Chicago and he deals with a lot of different brands. As far as upgrading goes I would say that may depend on what type of detecting you plan on doing. The new F series of detectors are pretty light and maybe I am prejudiced as I own an F75 but I am gald I upgraded and won't look back. I really like the target seperation of the F75.

I think both the CZ5 and CZ6a are great detectors.I wouldn't make a trade in on a new unit if you do decide to get a F series unit. Sell on Ebay or a classified section. The dealer I hunt with still uses a CZ for all his hunts over the other units in his shop. Good Luck Ron

Re: Fisher CZ-5 & CZ-6a

Thanks for the replies fellows. Thought about another option, maybe just have them checked and re calibrated. So I called Fishers and talked to a Felix...$$ 155.00 (EACH) if no parts are needed. Not that I am a total tightwad, but guessing the units are worth $350 -$400 each hmmm. Oh, and then add shipping and insurance! I was talking to the wife the other night and told her I was thinking maybe $50 to throw each in a test jig and maybe turn a pot or two.

They are basically the same unit only one doesn't have a speaker and they appear to respond them same, think I'll leave them as is.

Thanks again guys for your responses. Supposed to be sunny and in the low 50s tomorrow think I'll go for a walk and do a little probing.
Oh, and then snow Sunday!!!!!!!!!
