Hi there folks! Just wondering how would the 4" sniper coil stack up against the 11" DD version? I think the DD coil would have more depth than the 4" but I have used it and it truly is a sniper coil! I love it! It has found me stuff were the standard 8" concentric coil hasn't. Im asking since I'm planning to buy the DD coil in the coming weeks. More depth, I know. But what about sensitivity and the ability to detect smaller items? Any thoughts?

The sniper coil allows you to cherry pick in trashy areas and lets you get closer to metal fences, etc. The larger coil will cover more ground faster and deeper but it will also see more minerals in the ground and less sensitive to smaller objects. We really need two coils on one detector at the same time. You can almost accomplish this with a Sunray inline probe, but not sure if they make one for the F line up.

A few days ago I was hunting my great grand parents home built in the late 1940's and I was using the 8" coil in a 10'x10' area. I found some rusty nails, 1970's soda can, tabs and bottle caps. I switched to the 4" coil and on the same hunted area I found 2 1940's wheat pennys and a 1964 SILVER Rosey! So, whats the deal then with the 8" coil. Is it that it detects better and deeper objects than the 4" coil? Is the 8" not that sensitive? Well then again, in that very same day I found a rusty nail at a solid 8" of depth using the sniper coil. I think I'll stick to the 4" coil for now. Until I get the 11DD coil that is!

I put the sniper on my 75 limited and it ain't coming off. I've found more I guess because I hunt old parks and school yards. Mine is deep too. I run in DE most of the time with BP some. JE works well with gain down. PP is a breeze. I've also got an M6 with a 6X10 on it and its good too. Its just a little heavier.

This past sunday I went hunting on the beach and started to use the 11"DD coil on the wet part of the sand, though It was still usable but I switched to the 4" Sniper. Wow what a difference! It works better than the 11" on the wet sand! I'm sure I will loose an inch or two on the depth but still I am amazed on how this little thing works!!!
