Fisher 1265x UK discrimination settings?

I haven't used a 1265 for quite a few years but if you take a very rusty nail and set the descrim. so that you just get a scratchy signal then dig every thing that gives you a "solid" signal you should be ok. This will most likely be about a setting of "3"

Yes, in its day it was one of the best. It still should be a very good unit- excellent depth.

The UK is big and the conditions vary quite a bit. Where will you be hunting?

Hi Daryl
North West UK area, sites have small bits of iron and coke on them.

From what I've heard, that should not be much of a problem. It sounds much like the area around Essex. I am headed there on Friday and the people I have been talking to say that most of the iron has broken down and shouldn't cause too much trouble. It won't be near the problem you have in places like the Netherlands where the ground is full of nails. Now that was a real problem. You get real tired of digging nails.

The amount of iron in the ground may "seem" to make the ground mineralized but your machine should handle it with no problem. You might want to look around for some settings others have had success with and have those on hand. There are a couple of good UK sites that go into that pretty good. I have a couple if programs for my DFX from members there to handle the conditions and get maximum depth. You can probably do the same. Let me know if you aren't aware of the sites.

Sorry for the hijack, but I saw the subject of the 1265X. Dad has one, but can't find the user manual (and I'm wanting to get him out with it), is there a quick/brief description of a "basic" setting for this MD? If that's even a possibillity? Even a link to some info to it's use?

Thanks
