Does the other side have the gill and eyeball?

Very nice point but not a fish effigy.

Are there examples of fish effigies in this form?
I see how one might see a fish but I am doubtful.
Pretty good find.

I am sure someone back then would have recognized the resemblance to a fish, the same way someone might see Bob Hope in a potato chip.

But some of that flaking, the gill for example, would be impossible to control.

Not an fish but a very nice keeper. It's hard to ID due to not knowing where you are from. There are variants to published style or name in different locations.

IMHO it's nothing more than a nice point.

That is a very nice point but like the others have said it's not a fish effigy. It looks to be knife river flint, are you in a northern state??????

Around here they are called fishtails. A hunting point, not an effigy.

Nice point I wouldn’t think effigy I think the reason it looks that way is because it was a longer point that broke and than just a quick tip was reworked onto it
More pics would prob help

Okay, first just to clear the air, I don't think this is a Fish Effigy. It is just made this way from resharpening. But you have to admit it does look like a fish.

This is actually a Jacks Reef I believe because there have been several found on the site this came from. It is as thin as a dime.
