I'm always finding things I just can't figure out! Hence, the screen name. :dontknow:

Not much to go on but can anyone shed some light on this piece?

I'm pretty sure I see a fish tail. But, I'm
not sure about the rest. Mermaid?

Thanks for your help!

You're right. It is definitely a fishtailed dragon. Now what is it? Almost looks kind of like a bottle cap to me.

Could it be some sort of decorative piece for a horse's bridle? Maybe a wagon?

The two holes look like they're for mounting. It seems a bit large for it, but, might it be
some sort of top for a wine cork? It is brass and really pretty sturdy, but, maybe, far enough
in the past ? How about if, this was nailed to something at one time, fairly flat?

I can only see one other type of stamp on it. It's actually stamped on both of the "wings".

Not much help I'm afraid. Not very important either, but, some love a mystery. ;)

I am really just offering pure speculation.

How about.....it used to be on George Washington's original foot locker? :tongue3:

Maybe a depiction of a water dragon or water horse.

That's funny. In the last picture it looked like a mer-man with a sword to me. I really had to look to find the dragon.
