Hey all,
First of all I want to thank everyone for their advice. I now feel way more confident about finding sales. So this past weekend I went out to some sales. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I ended up doing quite well! The first sale I went to was a bust. I checked the whole street, nothing. I wasn't too bummed out, but it still wasn't a great start to the morning. The next yard sale I went to was fairly uneventful, I got a sigg water bottle and a tape deck to ipod converter in a free bin, but other than that nothing. In looking for a third sale, I saw a poorly lettered sign pointing me to another sale. This sale was not marked on craigslist, but from my own experience and what jerseyben and others said the unadvertised sales can be the best. I followed the signs, which led me to the back of a warehouse. There, behind the warehouse was a huge bay door. it was open, and the room inside was full, and I mean full of stuff! The perfect kind of stuff too, the cardboard boxes that are clearly 40 years old and are completely full of old but useful things. I met the guy in charge, and it turns out he buys estates, does garage clean outs, etc. He's a furniture guy, so he hardly pays attention to the small stuff. Just dumps the boxes on the floor and left people to root through them. It was amazing, you guys would have been in heaven. Anyways, here's what I got. (if you want to see close up photos of anything just let me know)

Pictured above, not necessarily in order:
Pair of Koss Pro/4AA Studio Headphones
Arrow T-50 Electric Staple Gun
4 Pyrex pie pans of various ages
a 3 piece collapsable cane with a brass dog's head handle
Vera bradley coin purse
LeSportSac purse, NWT
set of 6 matching Fire King Mugs
Set of 4 Anchor hocking fire king "snack plates" (the pattern is called mosaic, apparently it is fairly rare)
Awesome vintage suction cup roof light
Pair of 70's or 60's masonic cufflinks
a couple vintage sports snapbacks
1993 ERTL Bucket truck, NIB with certificate of authenticity.
1939 "Better Little Book" ft. Donald Duck
30+ State/National park pins
Not pictured are some vintage beer glasses (PBR and National Premium), a le creuset pot for my girlfriend (worth about $80, but she claimed it), some misc jewelery for her as well, a huge sewing kit from the 60's for her, a belt buckle for myself, a 1958 map of baltimore in excellent condition, some vintage trucker hats for myself, some misc tools for myself (new chisel, 10" pipe wrench, a couple other wrenches), a knife set, and some other stuff that I'm probably forgetting.
Best part, it was all $30! And he's having another sale in 2 weeks. I gave him my number, he sends out text updates of when his sales are happening.
Then, when I was heading home, stopped at a yardsale near my house and picked up this mountain bike for $150. I looked it up, it is a 2009 model that retailed for a whopping $1950!! Wow!! I cant expect to get that much from it now, it has certainly depreciated, but I'm hoping to take it back to Vermont in the fall and sell it for $900-$1000 to one of the zillion mountain bikers who live around me.

Thanks for looking, hope you all had good weekends as well!
