I found these in my girlfriend's backyard. They rang up from 12 - 16 on my X-Terra 705 about 8 inches deep. She lives in the suburbs of Northern Virginia and I have no idea why these were back there. I've tried looking up information about the shells, but I've found mostly just pictures. Anyone know the dates of these shell casings? They are old paper hull shotgun shells.

One says "Western Super X" and the other says "Winchester Super Speed"

Both say made in the USA and No. 12, which i guess is the gauge?

Any information about these would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah, those are 12 gauge shotgun shells.
Well, the bottom part anyway. They were around 3" long and made of paper, that is the very base left after the paper rots away.

They were made of paper from (I think) 1900 or so until about 1960 when plastic was introduced.

Some people collect those.

Thanks for the info. I find it interesting that these were in a suburban neighborhood. The development was built in the 70's. I'm thinking they're not worth anything? I still think they're pretty cool.
