First wheat penny ever

No picture since everyone knows what a penny looks like... But I found my first wheat penny today. It was in my friends neighbor's yard (vacant house) It was a 1951. That makes it the oldest thing I've ever found also.

You dig good, Doug! I've been at this for over a year and have only found a few coins older than myself! I'm still looking for an indian head and a buffalo......I've got my Mercs! This hobby is addicting.....each recovery makes you itch for the next one. Wishing you continued success....

Hey, congrats on your Wheatie! It took me nearly a year to find one, although my son had found several dozen by then, some in the same locations I detect! My first one was followed a few minutes later by a second one a few feet away.. I think you'll probably find more Wheaties or some nice silver in your present location. Andi
