On the way to the detecting grounds one of the roman villa sites was harvested and the farmer was on his tractor discing the field. I stopped on the grass strip and chatted a bit. The farmer is very interested in history in general. 15 mins later we hit the site, conditions were not good with the dry loose soil after plow and discing. Anyway, we made a couple finds and after some rain with more compact soil finds will be better.
Some small buttons, roman hobnails and small coins prove the settings on the Deus were spot on. Coolest find for me was the tiny paperthin aluminum disc shown on the Cent at about 5"-6" deep. We got loads of lead too, we both dug 46 pieces lead gridding the main site. Best find of the day was a silver 1806 III Stuber which i gave to the farmer. He had a big grin on his face, was 1806 the year his farmhouse was built...
Thanks for looking!
