Picnic day with the family and decided to do a few swings. This spot hasn't yielded much in the past besides trash but today I found a short path leading to the stream. I decided to concentrate on and off the path a bit. I found a couple good signals had some eats and went back to recover my finds. First was a 1984 penny which kinda turned me off but I went to the next target and tried digging. It must have took me 10-15 mins just to make 3-4 inches with my digging tool. The ground was extremely hard and full of roots... but then there it was. My first "old" well what I consider old anyways coin. 1912 Wheat Penny. I was pretty stoaked and went to show wife and then it started to rain.

I do prefer my old foundation site much better then parks, campgrounds, or public places but hey I'll take the "fix" anyways I can get it.

WTG, glad you got your first. Always like finding them because if you find them, then there is a good chance others are not far away. HH

Cool, my oldest Wheat is 1913

Coincidently, My family is headed out to a birthday party picnic today.Already have both my "sticks" packed! The park winds along 11 miles of Edward Hines Drive in Wayne Co. Michigan. The park has been there since 1919, so maybe I can locate a wheatie or two!

Nice find. They will be poppin up all over the place now! :) jgas
