1900 V nickel found way deep at around a foot. Deepest one yet.

Tesoro Vaquero - a foot? even on a good day 9inches would be the limit of this machines capabilities for that size coin. Not putting down the find. Try measuring it next time 12inches is more than you think.

Sorry............

Congrats lostlake88. Very nice find.
I know I have found buttons that size with my Silver Umax that were at least a foot deep in the sandy farm soil I detect in. Bigger items like buckles and junk iron, I find even deeper. Believe it.

Nice find.....& yes a Vaquero can sniff targets at 12" & more in the right soil condition no prob!

btw how'd you clean it?

Re: First "V" before and after pics

beautiful v isnt it a rush....... ya gotta love it...

Re: First "V" before and after pics

I wasn't trying to make a statement on how great my tesoro is, I couldn't care a less about depth etc... I am not a Tech head about metal detectors. All I care about is finding cool stuff. OK 11 inches maybe 10.5 if that makes you feel better. All i know is I use one of those lesche digger tools and I measured the length of it at exactly 12 inches, and this tool was almost beneath the surface when I popped out that nickel. Why would I have any reason to lie about it for gosh sakes?

Re: First "V" before and after pics

Very nice find!

I've only found one V nickle thus far, a 1912, and I can still recall just how thrilled I was when I pulled it out.

Nice V Lostlake

Thought I had dug a shielded nickle last week but it turned out to be a token.
Darn thing had me fooled till I got home and rinsed it off.

Keep um coming

I never said you lied about it & I'm sorry if thats how it was taken. I have seen many claims on here about deepth & I know that when it is actually measured the results are different. Tesoro is in my opinion one of the best all round machines & can easily get targets over 12" depending on size & soil conditions. I am very impressed with the deepth you get, as you say 'its about what you find'.

Re: First "V" before and after pics

Great find!! I found my first V at 7 1/2" this summer at a 1880 home.. Just before the flood I found a pocket spill of 3 V's and a shield at 9" on the other side of the yard.. Great feeling isn't it... Congrats..

Re: First "V" before and after pics

I only mentioned depth because I am going to have to go with some lighter equipment due to a bad back and Tesoro was one I was looking at. Excellent find! Monty
