So I went out today for the first time to try and find something I lost, never found what I lost but I did find this about 4 inches down. If any of you have any clue what this could be throw me some ideas!. Here is some info about the area I was in.

Whitby Ontario Shoreline, between boat marina and where the old mental hospital used to be. the hospital was used back in early 1900's to house injured ww1 soldiers. This was found about 25 feet up hill from the shore in a wooded/grass area.

Lot's of rust on it, it's about an inch an a half wide and 6 inches long.

Appears to be the brass slot from a door chain latch.

Definitely the receiver part of a door chain-lock, but not brass. I've never seen brass rust like that.

In any case, welcome and keep trying! :)

Looks like an old nail puller to me.

Brass-plated steel.

Welcome to the forum and hobby good luck

thanks guy, gunna have a look around google images and see if it could be a chain latch, can't see why it would be angled though, and to be a nail puller it seems a little small but who knows!, may go out today and see what else i can find around the area, I found an old nail with some orange tape on it so im thinking back in the 1800's a house used to be on land.

Friction lock of sort ?
