First time with a Button

Me and my kids went down to Galveston beach Sunday and didn't find much about $2 in Cad and a bag full of bottle caps and beer cans. LOL when we got home in was still light outside so i went to the park in the neighbor hood for a while. I found this old metal button. I think it is a snap but not sure. Thanks for any help

looks like a rivet to a pair of blue jeans at the top where you would button your fly

i can not see any spots where its put together, have to clean it a bit more just did not want to clean it to much
