Hello there,

I think that what you call a geofact. Sandstone hole
is to close to edge soon would break. No suspenion
wear and weakly shaped. That just my opinion and
welcome to the forum. You are still hooked!

I'd pick it up too! I don't think it's a geofact, but I'm not an expert on the subject of beads and ornamentals. It looks to me, from the pics, that there is an indention on either side where the hole is. That would indicate, to me, a drilling tool of some sort drilled the hole. Dunno, I could be wrong.

You usually collect 1880-1910 baseball items? Now that's specific and pretty cool.Do you have any Pud Galvin or Addie Joss items? Only kidding. Welcome to the site.I think what you have is propably designed by mother nature.I'd have picked it up too, there are things very similiar to it known as pebble pendants. Unitas

Never owned a Pud Galvin, that would be pretty cool ! Have owned many Addie Joss at one time or another though .

The big reason I thought this was unnatural was the wear on both sides is almost identical .

Yea man.... it is very cool and seems to be drilled to me. I am a new guy as well so I would wait for the serious experts (Neanderthal, Cannonman, to name a couple) to respond and see what they think. But, no matter what it is..... Welcome to the site and trust me...... if you think that you are hooked now? Wait until you find your first real, clear, whole, awesome arrowhead or other Indian artifact. Have fun, stay safe and share your finds with us

Let me clarify a little bit as to why it looks drilled to me...I've found dozens of rocks with holes in em, made there naturaly from water action, etc.
Those holes will usually not be "uniform" so to speak, and if you look into the hole, you will see ridges, or little deposites sticking out etc.
With a drilled peice, it will show uniformity, and the insides of the hole will be smooth so to speak, and straight. On some peices, of course the holes will be "cone like", meaning that it was drilled from both sides of the peice.
Hope this clears up a few things for you.

That's an awesome card of Nap. I love the classics, I collect 1950's and early 1960's football. However I've found that collecting artifacts is cheaper, all you need is gas money and ambition. Thanks for the show., Unitas (wonder how I came up with that handle)

Hard to say without a pic but the Washington Nationals had two teams that played in the mid 1880,s . If related to them nice find ! If your friend ever thinks about parting with it give me a hollar . LOVE to add to my collection !
