Hello Everyone,
I have been visiting the Treasurenet site for a few weeks and it stoked my intrest into trying metal detecting. I though it would be something fun that the kids and i could do together. So i bought a Mark 1 LTD detector that i found in the local paper for 50 dollars. The owner said that the battery contacts were loose and would need replaced and he demonstrated this to me before i purchased it from him. So i headed home to 3 waiting children who were more than ready to dig up our treasures. Once i was able to rob all of the childrens toys for AA batteries which they did not mind donating to the cause. We headed to the back yard to begin our treasure seeking mission, We found lots of scrap metal and a few 1980's pennies. Then it happend we got a very loud tone about 7 inches down and the detector indicated that is was probably trash metal but the children insisted on digging it up. When we got to the bottom of our hole my son reached in a pulled out a pistol im pretty sure it was a toy. But man did there faces light up, they were so amazed that we could find things like this right in our back yard. We were outside until dark killing my lawn but hey it was a great time and the kids cant wait to do it again. They are going to be a little disapointed when i get home today day since i dropped the detector off to have the battery contacts replaced but im sure they will be ready to roll when it is repaired. I have to say im glad i stubbled across your site. Metal detecting is a great family activity and i believe the kids and i are hooked and if that lets me spend more time with to my children im all about it.
